Make your Own…..Home Decor – Heartstrings

Heartstrings paper mobiles

Recently I have been unleashing my creative side again, having studied art & design for most of my teen years, and leading into my early 20′s I felt it always been the best part of me but over the past few years it’s somehow managed to get sidetracked. I missed that feeling of looking at something and instantly drawing inspiration from it but  slowly i am trying to get that back again.

For my  ‘Make your own’ series I thought I would share a post about one of my latest creative projects and it’s a pretty easy one to start of with i think. As you may gather from previous posts, home decor means a lot to me as i am sure it’s the same with most people. My inspiration for these heartstrings comes from my home and what it means to me. I love adding personal touches here and there to express my mood, which can be welcoming and always worth talking about (a great ice and silence breaker)

These HeartStrings are made from recycled paper and are super easy to make and look very cute around the home/garden.

To Make you will need:

2 sheets A4 Recycled paper or enough to make 12 heart cutouts (mine measure approx 2 x 2 inches)

A black marker pen

Scissors

A Pencil

Ivory/ White thread

Needle

Instructions for hearts

  • Make one good heart stencil, i freehand but if you can print out if you want. Cut out 12 hearts (make it easier and fold the paper several times that way you will only need two or three cutouts)
  • When you know what you want to write on (I  chose to write mine with quotes about the home) write on both sides of the hearts

To Finish off I used a little wooden flower palette I had lying around in my home furnishings kit, feel free to use any object you want. Hang above windows,  on door handles, in the garden on tree branches i think would look amazing if you did three or four.
